Tuition Scholarship Awarded to Child with Autism

The Autism Grant awarded a full tuition scholarship to a child from Richmond, Virginia.

June 30, 2012 - PRLog -- The Autism Grant awarded a full tuition scholarship to a 2-year-old boy from  Richmond, Virginia.   Aaric Allen will attend the preschool program at the Dominion School for Autism.

“I want to express my heartfelt thanks for the gift that you have given my little boy” said Aaric’s mother, Amanda Noble.   “It’s hard to describe how it feels to desperately want to help your child get the therapy he needs while not having the resources to afford it.  The Autism Grant was like a gift from heaven.”

Effective early intervention for children with autism requires an intensive behavioral therapy that many families of children with autism can’t afford.  “The financial burden of treating a child with autism can be astronomical. The cost of a specialized early intervention program is almost the equivalent of asking parents to pay for a 4-year college education before their child enters kindergarten.  We established The Autism Grant to help families in dire financial need,” said grant founder, Don Busick.

Intensive and prescriptive intervention helps children with autism unlock their full potential.  .  “At the Dominion School, our model program is built on the evidenced based practice of Applied Behavior Analysis.  We utilize the Competent Learner Model© (CLM) curriculum to help our students acquire the skills they will need to be successful,” said Rachel Reynolds, Principal at the Dominion School.
