FestivalMap.EU: New Map of Festivals in Europe Launched

July 4, 2012 - PRLog -- FestivalMap.eu has just been launched, offering a comprehensive and interactive festival map spanning all of the music loving nations of Europe, soon to include the America's and the rest of the world, its developers wanted to visualise the festivals taking place in the countries around them - "Wouldn't it be great if we could see all of the music festivals taking place in Europe in one place? Ideally on a map"

Festival Map was developed by a music festival enthusiast who was the first to use the ChooseFest music festival database to create a visual app. Taking into account the popularity of the music festivals and their geographical locations, FestivalMap.eu plots pins on a full-screen map of Europe, each representing a music festival in situ. Further information on the festival is then available by clicking on the pin.

Using the combination of Google's maps API and festival data from ChooseFest.com the developer was able to quickly visualise all of the festivals, so quickly in fact they had to add a "grouping" feature to allow easier browsing without being swarmed with festival pins. The developer goes on to give their reasoning for developing this festival map: "We wanted to see music festivals in Europe without boundaries, we wanted to scope out the best new places to hear amazing music and dance with our buddies, new lands to explore, new countries to pitch our tent."
