FESTIVALS - What's your ticket really worth?

Research reveals the real cost of festival tickets, with T in the Park topping the table for value

July 5, 2012 - PRLog -- As festival season gets into full swing, analysis from VoucherCodes.co.uk reveals that when it comes to UK festivals, this weekend’s T in the Park offers consumers the most bang for their buck.

VoucherCodes.co.uk conducted research around the top UK and European events and compared the cost of gig tickets for each of the top headline acts with the cost of a weekend ticket for festivals they are playing at. When broken down individually, the price of seeing all the headline acts more than covered the cost of an entire weekend ticket.

Despite being the most expensive festival to attend, T in the Park, where a ticket costs £199, topped the table. Those attending the iconic Scottish event save a whopping £291 on the £490 it would cost to see main headliners (including The Cure, Kasabian, Florence & the Machine, The Black Keys and the Foo Fighters) on their individual tours.

Isle of Wight based events took both second and third place in the UK best value stakes with Bestival and the Isle of Wight festival offering savings of £262 and £247 respectively.

However, even these huge savings are dwarfed by Europe’s best value festival, fib 2012 (Festival Internacional de Benicàssim) which kicks off in Spain next Thursday. The £155 ticket price gives attendees access to headliners including The Stone Roses, Example, At The Drive-In, New Order and Bob Dylan, saving them a massive £365 on combined prices of their individual tours.

Duncan Jennings, co-founder of VoucherCodes.co.uk commented: “Despite the hefty price tags, festivals are still excellent value for money and a great chance to see some of the world’s best artists at a knock down price.

“The UK festival scene has exploded over the past decade and the sheer range of events taking place across the country is staggering, meaning there are events suitable for every budget. It’s also worth noting that the poor weather has hit ticket sales this year and many events are still not sold out - great news for anyone looking for a last minute bargain.”
