NBC 7 News Report Gold Coast Flood Restorations on Kearny Mesa Fire Cleanup and Water Removal

July 14, 2012 - PRLog -- When a fire alarm does not go off in a local San Diego office building it is left with some major water damage from the fire sprinklers inside. NBC 7 newscaster Brandi Powell was live on the scene of the fire cleanup.


Standing next to a Gold Coast Flood Restorations truck, she says on camera that "San Diego water damage and mold specialists are working hard to try to get water out of the 3rd floor" of the fire damaged Kearney Mesa office building.

The fire was a bit of a mystery. NBC 7 newscaster Brandy Powell spoke with the San Diego Fire Department and with the manager of the building located on the 9400 block of Chesapeake Drive. San Diego Fire said, "An alarm did not go off at their station" but the building manager said that she "got a call right away from the alarm company that there was in fact a fire." She went on to say, "Just two week ago they had their alarm and sprinkler systems checked and okay'd."

San Diego fire claimed a passer by made the 911 call about smoke pouring out of the Kearny Mesa office building. The call came in shortly after 5 in the morning. When firefighters arrived, there was smoke on the 3rd floor. However, the first firefighting crew on the scene said there was no alarm going off.

San Diego fire confirms there was fire inside the walls and that the cause was electrical. A San Diego fire spokesman said, "It's likely that over 3000 gallons of water went out over the 3rd floor amounting to 6 inches of standing water."

Not only was the 3rd floor water damaged, much of that water seeped down into the 2nd and 1st floors as well. Gold Coast Flood Restorations certainly had their hands full that morning!
