Downtown Raleigh’s First Splash Bash on Fayetteville Street Fundraiser Event Announced

July 23, 2012 - PRLog -- RALEIGH, NC:  Mark your calendars! The Isaac Hunter Foundation announced Downtown Raleigh’s first Splash Bash on Fayetteville Street will be held on Saturday, September 1 in front of Isaac Hunter’s Oak City Tavern at 112 Fayetteville Street. The event will begin at noon and will run into the evening.

The Splash Bash, a first of its kind in Downtown Raleigh, will include fun for the entire family throughout the day. Activities will include a dunk tank, water slide, bounce house, face painting, live music, food, street vendors, contests, raffles and more! Proceeds of the event will be donated to a local family who needs help paying medical bills.

After multiple surgeries and numerous tests, Jim O’Reilly, a local resident, has been diagnosed with neuropathy and his doctors also suspect he is in the early stages of Multiple Sclerosis. He experiences significant fatigue, bouts of numbness in his face, arms and legs, difficulty walking, problems with his vision and acute pain throughout his body day and night. As a result of the significant progression of his symptoms, Jim has not been able to work for the last 2-1/2 years.

“Jim has outstanding medical bills in excess of $20,000 and is looking at the possibility of another surgery in August,” said Cathy Sanita, Director of Operations for Hummingbird Creative Group and organizer of the event. “Prescription medicine is extremely costly, even with insurance, and his doctor visits and testing needs to continue. I hope to raise enough money at this event for Jim so he can pay his outstanding medical bills and overdue rent. We are grateful that the Isaac Hunter Foundation is helping us pull this together to benefit a local family in need.”
