By: re|shelter Disabling environmental sensitivities can be caused by acute or low-grade chronic exposure to petrochemicals, pesticides and other commonly used synthetic chemicals, toxic mold, Borrelia burgdorferi (the spirochete that causes lyme disease), and other neurotoxins. Grant criteria and applications can be found at http://reshelter.org/ Re|shelter is putting a call out to its supporters to help them double the $10,000 available in their Safe Oasis Grant Fund by September 30 so they can award more grants before the final grant decisions are made. All contributions to re|shelter between now and September 30 will be earmarked for the Safe Oasis Grant Program, which is only open to U.S. residents. Re|shelter president Julie Genser shares, "There are thousands - if not millions - of environmental refugees across America and around the world, struggling to survive in an increasingly toxic world. They all suffer from severe, disabling environmental sensitivities that make finding safe housing nearly impossible. There just aren't enough safe, affordable choices in today's housing market. Re|shelter wants to change that, but we need your help. Please help us, so we in turn can help this marginalized and vulnerable population that has historically been ignored, maligned, and denied resources in just about every sector of our society."
