Aug. 30, 2012 - PRLog -- Stakeholders need to embrace constant changes in the current dynamic business world. There are various organizational processes in place that aids in such modifications. We can define them as modifications of:

-Strategic
-Mission
-Operational (including Structural)
-Attitudinal and behavioral of personnel
-Technological

Defining the objective:
Change management is the approach to evolve entities, groups and firms from the existing state to an aspired condition in the future. It refers to project management process where the modifications are introduced formally and endorsed by the organization. The final objective is to curtail the effect on resources and evade disturbances.
The information technology discipline:
Standard processes and methodologies are maintained in the service management discipline. External parameters can affect the requirements, for example; legal policy updates; new software developments and applications of the same; and taking and fulfilling business / projects / service improvement initiatives.
In Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework, Change Management exists side-by-side to "Service Transition" or transitioning into a newer process to Service Operation from the Service Design Phase. Following standard methods and embrace newer functions are handled seamlessly.
Change as an event:

-is management permitted
-is executed with minimal and established risk to current IT infrastructure
-is resulting into a new existence of one or multiple configuration items
-provides better business value due to the usage of the improved IT systems (growth in revenue, avoid redundant cost, or improve service)
Change Management leads to managing change processes that involve system software; communications equipment and software; hardware; and complete documentation pertaining to the functioning, support and continuation of live systems. It ideally consists of:

1.Bringing up and noting changes
2.Measuring the cost, impact, risk and benefit of projected developments
3.Creating business validations and acquiring sanction
4.Supervising implementation of the changes
5.Observing and listing down progress of the implementations
6.Evaluating and concluding the requests for changes
Function of Change Advisory Body:
The process requires sanction of any projected change by the authorities. This decision making team is called the Change Advisory Board (CAB) that mostly consists of employees from other departments of the company. Even when the change team actually takes care of the process, the board functions to serve the following purposes:

-Categorize changes
-Supervising the modifications and the change process
-The management for change chairs the CAB and the Emergency committee
-Evaluate and conclude Requests for Change (RFCs)
-And finally, create and provide the report to the management
