Wild Everglades Women's-Only Fishing University in Naples Oct. 13 & 14

The award winning "Ladies, Let's Go Fishing!®" University Series will be held October 13th and 14th at Port of the Islands Everglades Resort, in east Naples.

Sept. 13, 2012 - PRLog -- Lady anglers will be learning a little more in Naples this October! The award winning "Ladies, Let's Go Fishing!®" University Series will be held October 13th and 14th at Port of the Islands Everglades Resort, in east Naples.

For this event, held in conjunction with support from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) through the Sport Fish Restoration Program, women will travel from several states for an exciting weekend of education, hands-on fishing activities, habitat conservation and to meet other female anglers. FWC will educate University participants on the importance of marine conservation and demonstrate hook removal, release techniques and more. The University provides an opportunity for the ladies to use their newly acquired skills to fish inshore or nearby offshore on their choice of a group boat, back country boat or kayak fishing. The age for participants includes teen females age 16 and up, when accompanied by an adult female.

The university decided to host the event here based on feedback from their 7,000 graduates who voted to fish the pristine 10,000 islands, an area known for birds and wildlife viewing as well as world-renowned fishing.

"This is a great 'out-there' fishing adventure, where women can learn and go fishing in an amazing area they might not visit on their own," commented Founder, Betty Bauman.

“We’re excited to host such an outstanding event,” commented Deana Paul, General Manager with Port of the Islands Everglades Adventure Resort, located at 25000 Tamiami Trail East. “Because of its unique position at the headwaters of the Ten Thousand Islands and the Gulf of Mexico, anglers from all over have chosen Port of the Islands Resort as their preferred  destination for their fishing tours and recreational events. We pride ourselves on being able to exceed the needs of this very diverse population.”

Featured on national network television and more, the University series is also supported by major partners Mercury Outboards, Ranger Boats, Silver Airways, Fishhound.com, Minn Kota, Humminbird and Magic Tilt Trailers. Those and other supporters are recognized on http://www.ladiesletsgofishing.com.

The mission of LLGF is to increase the numbers of responsible anglers. According to a recent report by the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation, “For the first time in several years, fishing has gained more participants than it lost - largely due to women taking up the sport.”

University registration starts at only $89 and includes instruction; use of equipment, hands-on training, networking reception and fundraisers, certain meals, goody bags and more. Fishing adventure fees are on http://www.ladiesletsgofishing.com. Fishing is out of Everglades City for close access to the fishing grounds.
