Agoura Hills, California – The Rebel & the King is now available on Amazon after a successful pre-release tour surrounding Elvis Week at Graceland in August.  A new release from WaterDancer Press, the book consists of an original manuscript by Nick Adams about his friendship with Elvis Presley in 1956, discovered by Nick’s daughter in an old box of memorabilia. The book is a rare glimpse into Nick and Elvis' lives, presented as a raw manuscript, edited version, a foreword by the author's daughter, and rare, previously unseen photographs.

Nick Adams, most famous for his role in western television series The Rebel, lived a short and fast-paced life in Hollywood only to die young, and somewhat mysteriously. In this posthumous publication, a young Nick writes about his unique experience on a trip with Elvis to Memphis and the Tupelo Homecoming concert in the beginning of the singer’s rise to fame in 1956. Adams was treated as family and this is a loving, behind-the-scenes look at Elvis as a spiritual being, humble even among his meteoric celebrity.

“This is straight from the horse’s mouth, as if Nick and Elvis are speaking from the grave,” Allyson Adams writes in her foreword. “It is the last glimpse of innocence before the end of an era.”

Tom Brown, VP Turner Classic Movies, says about The Rebel & the King, “This is one of the most honest, touching and truthful books I’ve read about Elvis. I had no idea the extent of Nick’s connection to Elvis’ family and hometown. We never hear much about his mother and father. Nick brings to life. It’s fascinating stuff.”

“Nobody knows Nick Adams better than me, and Nick was E.P.’s best friend in Hollywood,” declares Robert Conrad, People’s Choice Favorite Actor, and International Radio Host.

Allyson Adams made guest appearances at events in the area of Tupelo, Mississippi, and in Graceland to promote the book and was met by admiring Elvis fans. At that time, Allyson Adams was interviewed on Sirius Elvis Radio with DJ George Klein, on WMCTV Channel 5, and WREG Channel 3 and was written up in the Malibu Surfside News. Signings were also held at The Booksellers at Laurelwood at and at Diesel Books in Malibu, California for the pre-release. A video documenting her trip is available here.
