Sept. 27, 2012 - PRLog -- Graduate students in the Learning Technologies Master of Science (LTMS) program at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology are getting a hands-on education in the LTMS 609: Synchronous Facilitation course this fall and you’re invited to join them for a series of free webinars.

The Synchronous Facilitation course focuses on preparing students to facilitate, synchronous online learning and collaboration sessions.  These sessions often take place in a virtual classroom or webinar environment.  The students are learning how to design a session and also use the technology.  Adobe Connect is the primary virtual classroom tool used in the graduate class.

One project requirement for the students is to facilitate and present a webinar and the public is invited to attend.  Andy Petroski, Director of Learning Technologies at Harrisburg University, coordinates the LTMS program.

“Opening up the student webinars to the public gives the students a chance to practice and learn in a live environment with an authentic audience,” says Petroski.  “This is an opportunity for them to get field experience while in the classroom.  It will be a great learning experience for them and one that will build confidence in their knowledge and ability to use web conferences and virtual classrooms as learning solutions in their profession.”

Attend one or all of the student presentations by registering below where dates, times, webinar descriptions and short student bios are also available.

The Synchronous Facilitation course is part of the Instructional Design concentration in the LTMS program at Harrisburg University.

The LTMS program is an innovative, applied learning technologies program that provides students with immediate career benefits while preparing them for projected industry needs. The LTMS program is a part-time or full-time 36 semester hour program that provides students with leading edge approaches and skills to help them apply existing and emerging learning technologies in a variety of learning environments.

Additionally, students can take courses via an online option—called E2C—which provides students the same instruction that face-to-face classroom learners experience while enjoying the benefits and convenience of attending virtually. Beyond the ability to speak and listen in real-time, Harrisburg University uses Adobe Connect's functionality to create a virtual environment that mirrors key classroom functions and expands upon others.
