Follow on Google News | Man leaves well paid(ish) job to try his hand at making money online instead!A little over 2 months ago now, one man with a steady job, getting paid a decent wage, decided he was going to pack it all in and start working for himself instead. Who in their right mind gives up a job when thousands are struggling to find work?
By: Granta Network Solutions The decision was not based on a whim, it was a carefully considered and thought out choice that followed several weeks of deliberation and weighing up the options. Tim had been working at his job for over 3 years and was earning decent money whilst getting to travel to various foreign locations as part of his day to day job. Although it was hard work (what job isn't?) this was no boring, mundane office job that involved being tied to a desk all day, every day. So what would make someone in a position like that, especially in these times of economic and financial uncertainty, hand in their notice and set off into the uncertain, unknown world of self-employment? In his own words: "I had a nagging feeling that I wasn't fulfilling my potential. I know it might sound selfish but I felt like I was putting the best days of my life and all my efforts and energy into furthering the goals of others. I felt that if I could channel that same energy and those same efforts into my own goals, then I had a good chance of success. I also felt that I owed it to myself to at least try. I didn't want to wake up in 40 years time and wonder 'what if?' It wasn't a decision I took lightly but I felt that I was probably in the best position I would ever be to give it a go, so I am!" After doing some financial calculations to work out how long he could survive without earning any income and putting a few contingencies in place to start earning a bit of income on the side, he took the plunge and handed in his notice at his employers and hasn't looked back since. It's now been over 2 months since his last day of full time employment and the beginning of his adventure into the unknown. You can read about the various different methods he's tried (successful and unsuccessful) End
