Judge Marina Corodemus Provides Court’s Perspective in Webinar on Product Liability Defense

Hosted by Arnold & Porter, LLP, the webinar focused on steps companies can take to counter plaintiffs’ attempts to paint a "profits over people" theme during product liability and mass tort cases.

Judge Corodemus discussed how the court monitors motions and the conduct of the jury, how to deal with emails from employees, discovery and e-discovery, issues of spoliation; and how best to manage pretrial issues, voir dire and motions in limine.

The program, titled: Presenting the Company Story: Developing an Accurate Account of Company Conduct and Refuting Plaintiffs’ "Profits Over People" Theme, was held on October 11. It addressed a variety of issues including:

* How and why to develop a "Responsible Communications" program.

* How to develop and tell an affirmative story of appropriate company conduct.

* How to address potentially damaged company documents and unfortunate deposition testimony.

* How best to overcome bias against corporate defendants.
