The planned highly interactive workshops are scheduled to take flight in spring 2013. The Initiative seeks alliances with local associations, businesses, and utilities to make the training accessible to all sized organizations. Participating professionals will improve their marketplace acumen, obtain better information about financial metrics that matter for their projects, and witness the effectiveness of innovation in efficiency retrofits and renewable technologies. The training facilitator is energy consultant and educator Michael Vargas of Atlas Project Support. Atlas Project Support’s Michael Vargas was quoted as saying, “Over my many years in the energy industry I’ve noticed the growing gap between current job skills, and the skills organizations need to support energy requirements that will help them stay competitive in the marketplace. ABOUT MICHAEL VARGAS Michael Vargas is the founder and principal consultant of Atlas Project Support. This San Diego based firm focuses on energy consumption, sustainable building practices and preconstruction services for corporate, government, and private clients. Michael holds both academic and industry credentials and has more than 12 years of construction and project management experience. In addition to his consulting business, Michael is a Professor in the Business School at Saint Leo University a Catholic University and MBA student mentor at the San Diego State University Research Foundation. He is an Advisory Panel Member of the Green Building Council Institute’s Continuing Education Committee. Vargas earned a Masters in Business Administration, a Masters in Project Management, and a Graduate Certificate in Financial Analysis from the Keller Graduate School of Management. Michael completed a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration at San Diego State University, along with a Certificate in Green Building and Construction. He is currently pursuing his Doctorate at Creighton University in Leadership Studies.
