St. Louis Cardinals and Major League Baseball "Stand Up To Cancer"

Dec. 18, 2012 - PRLog -- The St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Team will be giving a fan the chance to sit in with the players and take part of spring training's Photo Day as part of a charity auction.

The public/media relations officials from all 30 Major League Baseball clubs announced their initiative in a press conference at the Winter Meetings. The proceeds from the auction will benefit "Stand Up To Cancer," a program that raises money to forward cancer research.

All 30 of the major-league clubs are participating, and the auction items range from guitar lessons with Bronson Arroyo to riding on the team bus with the Baltimore Orioles, lessons with big-league coaches to autographs from Hall of Famers.

The St. Louis Cardinals are offering the chance to join the team in Photo Day at spring training. The winning bid will result in a chance to don a personalized jersey and join the players as they circulate through photos for baseball cards, Fox Sports Midwest coverage, scoreboard graphics, and The Post-Dispatch.

The package includes a hotel stay at the St. Louis Cardinals Team Hotel Embassy Suites Palm Beach Gardens - PGA Boulevard

Experience Big League photo Day along with St. Louis Cardinals players. Stay in the Cardinals' team hotel, the Embassy Suites Palm Beach Gardens-PGA Boulevard, Fla., on Monday Feb. 18. Arrive at the Cardinals Spring Training Complex by 7 am Tuesday, Feb. 19, to participate in Cardinals photo day with the entire Cardinals team as they go station to station having their photos taken by trading Card companies, stadium scoreboard operators, ESPN and FOX TV productions, video game producers and Cardinals Team photographer.

Winning bid will receive their own personalized authentic Cardinals jersey and hat to wear through Photo Day and keep as a souvenir of their day. Following photo day, spend the morning watching the Cardinals spring training workout. Winner will receive their own individual photo from the Cardinals Team photographer as a keepsake of their Photo Day experience.

PR officials of Major League Baseball were prompted to create the auction because of the number of team employees, team personnel, or family and friends who have battled cancer. Representatives from all 30 teams' PR departments wore "SU2C" t-shirts and stood on the dais for the announcement of the auction.
