Jan. 15, 2013 - PRLog -- DETROIT -- In the developing world, ambulances are some of the most coveted items. Sick people are being carried for miles on the backs of their caring relatives, or endure bumpy rides on donkey carts in an effort to find care in faraway hospitals. In Africa you can see heavily pregnant women walking for days through the savannahs, taking a chance that lions do not catch up to them before reaching the safety of the maternity clinic.

World Medical Relief, with its headquarters in Detroit, has delivered humanitarian relief to countries hit hard by poverty, war and/or natural disaster since 1953. To kick-off its 60th anniversary celebration, which will take place this year; it has announced a very unusual raffle. The winner of the raffle will receive a van style ambulance filled with medical supplies, as well as emergency equipment such a defibrillator, suction machine, nebulizer & oxygen, estimated value $10,000. The ambulance can only be used by charities outside of the United States.

This particular type of ambulance can be shipped in a forty foot container. Shipping costs are not included. Free handling and preparation of the custom documents are included.

Only 1,000 tickets will be sold. Each ticket is $50. The drawing will take place on October 19, 2013. One does not need to be present to win.
