Attorney Michael Grieco Announces Candidacy For Miami Beach City Commission

Jan. 17, 2013 - PRLog -- MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Prominent criminal defense attorney Michael Grieco of The Grieco Law Center has formally announced his candidacy for Miami Beach City Commission. Grieco and his family filed the official paperwork for the open Group 3 position in Miami City Hall this week.

“My excitement and motivation stem from my past experience as a public servant when I was as an Assistant State Attorney in Miami-Dade County,” said Grieco. I want to once again step up and fight for people’s rights.  I will not assert that I have all the answers, but I know that I have the ability to listen and process what is heard with no hidden agenda.  So with the full support of those closest to me, I have chosen to not sit idly by while the entitled potentially sink the town I want to continue to raise my family in.”

Despite the perceived challenges ahead in this tough election, Grieco, 37, said he plans to run a clean campaign with fair and objective communication as well as fiscal accountability.

“My only objective is straightforward and simple - the betterment of the City of Miami Beach,” said Grieco. “Furthermore, I am not a career politician covertly seeking office beyond City Hall. It would require me to be away from my three loves: my family, the people of Miami Beach, and the practice of law.”

Grieco’s first campaign fundraiser will be held February 1, 2013 at the Haven Lounge, 1237 Lincoln Road in Miami Beach. He said the campaign will not affect his law practice and he remains open to accept new clients while fully handling current cases.

Grieco was born and raised on Long Island in New York. In 1997, Michael earned a Bachelors Degree from American University, where he worked in both the U.S. Congress and C-SPAN. He earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of Miami School of Law where he was heavily involved in trial advocacy and interned with the Miami-Dade State Attorney.

After law school, Grieco served as an Assistant State Attorney in the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office in order to hone his litigation skills in the area of criminal law. He handled thousands of cases, including but not limited to, DUI, Domestic Violence, Battery, Drug Offenses, Theft Offenses, Aggravated Assault/Battery, Robbery, Sexual Battery, Juvenile Offenses, Probation Violations and all other Misdemeanors and Felony criminal cases. He was also a member of the Gang Task Force for two years and acted in a supervisory capacity as a Felony Division Chief in 2005.

Later, Grieco accepted a job with a boutique litigation firm that served as corporate counsel for hundreds of Florida businesses. He later founded his own criminal law firm in 2006.  Since the inception of the firm, Grieco has been committed to aggressively defending criminal clients from all walks of life in allegations ranging from attempted murder and narcotics trafficking, to DUI and anti-trust violations.

In his personal life, Michael enjoys spending time with his family and exercising regularly.  He is a member of the Miami Children’s Hospital Young Ambassadors Board and Diamond Society, the Pillar Board for the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce, Mount Sinai Foundation Young Founders, South of Fifth Neighborhood Association Board of Directors, and the City of Miami Beach Police/Citizens Relations Board.
