Follow on Google News | Church Goes to the Movies: Live Worship and Sermon on the Big ScreenNew campus of Grace Fellowship Church opens in Newport at AMC Newport on the Levee movie theater in Newport, KY.
About 150 people (almost 10 percent) are leaving the Florence campus to begin the gathering in Newport with campus pastor Peter LaRuffa. Peter says that, “Whether guests need help in getting acquainted with the church or something as simple as finding a seat, they can expect a warm greeting from one of our members.” Grace Fellowship isn’t the first church in the tri-state area to have multiple campuses and many churches around the country use theaters. “Although going to church at the movies is new to us I believe it’s the ideal place to meet—who wouldn’t love to sit back, relax, and learn God’s Word in comfy seats with cup-holders! Three quarters of the messages at the new campus will be played on the big screen from the previous week in Florence, with the other quarter of messages preached live by Peter. This is partnered with live contemporary music each week. Peter has been in vocational ministry for over ten (10) years, having served in local churches in New York City and Northern Kentucky. He has both seen and experienced how Jesus changes lives. Peter is excited about the sufficiency of the Scriptures, and passionate about people understanding and applying God’s Word to their everyday lives—“not just on Sundays.” Peter and his wife, Sarah, relocated to Northern Kentucky in 2006 and have four beautiful children: Justin, Jonathan, Emma, and one expected to arrive later this year.
