Barcode software introduces creation of standards-compliant barcodes in Microsoft Office 2013

Feb. 5, 2013 - PRLog -- ConnectCode, a leading provider of barcode software and fonts, today announced the release of a new version (v9.5) of ConnectCode Barcode Fonts. This version introduces a new cloud based barcode app for Office that enables standards-compliant barcodes to be created in Microsoft Office 2013.

The barcode app for Office uses the new Add-In model provided by Microsoft and enables users to create barcodes in the familiar environment of Office. In Microsoft Word, the app uses the selected data as barcode input and generates a barcode using font technology. In Microsoft Excel, the app further automates the creation of multiple barcodes using all the selected cells as input data. This greatly reduces the effort of creating barcodes for inventory data stored in a spreadsheet. The generation of check digit, bearers bar, start/stop characters and embedded human readable text are supported by the app in a simple and elegant user interface. The barcode app is hosted on Windows Azure cloud with a global network of managed datacenters and is available in Office Store.

The barcode app for Office works hand in hand with the True Type fonts provided in the software package. The use of fonts is well known in the auto-id industry and ensures generation of barcodes in the highest quality that meet the strictest industry requirements. When a font is printed, it rasters to the resolution of the printer and will not be limited to the Dots per Inch (DPI) of the devices’ screens. This is a core differentiator of ConnectCode’s barcode products with other software in the industry.

ConnectCode Barcode Fonts package also supports the creation of barcodes in ALL versions of Microsoft Word and Excel using VBA (Visual Basic Applications) macros, formulas and Add-Ins.

The barcode fonts package also supports the creation of barcodes on a wide variety of platforms such as SQL Server (Reporting Services), .Net DLL (Dynamic Link Library), Crystal Reports, Oracle, Windows 8 Store API (Application Programming Interface), Javascript/HTML5 using web fonts, Microsoft Access, Command Prompt, Java and MFC (Microsoft Foundation Class). A Standalone Barcode Fonts Encoder and Barcode Image Generator are also provided in the package.
