Notes4Cancer Seeks Funds with the ‘Battle of the Bands’

Feb. 6, 2013 - PRLog -- USA (February 4, 2013) – Notes4Cancer is setting up its very first ‘Battle of the Bands’ in southern Mississippi to raise funds to support musicians battling with cancer. The fundraiser is a call out to those who want to give a ray of hope to musicians during a time when they are strongly in need of financial and emotional support. Notes4Cancer is a non profit organization that raises money for musicians with cancer.

Unlike other cancer charities that restrict financial help based on various factors, Notes4Cancer is a support for all musicians with cancer, regardless of their age, gender, type of cancer or the state to which they belong to. From providing gas money and paying for travel expenses during visits to the doctors, to monthly housing costs for those who cannot afford rents, Notes4Cancer helps musicians fight with cancer.

At a recent press conference, a spokesperson for Notes4Cancer commented, “We believe in music leaving a therapeutic impact on patients which is why we provide support on a musical level as well. If you are musician suffering from cancer, we provide you support in the form of guitar strings, music software or other items that help you to continue playing music. Even if you are not a professional musician but love music, we cam provide you with free music lessons and musical instruments to play while you are recovering.”  

Notes4Cancer was started by Elizabeth Smith, mother to the talented musician, Scott who was diagnosed with cancer. During his therapy, music made his soul live through the trauma of the disease. While struggling with cancer, Scott would play guitars and keyboards, write music and jam with his brothers. Because of expensive treatments, financial struggles gripped the family who tried to seek help from cancer charities but in vain. This is when Elizabeth Smith decided to take a step with Notes4Cancer.

“We are currently planning to raise funds through our upcoming Battle of the Bands in southern Mississippi. We are working on setting up a silent auction with bands, food and tons of fun!  All proceeds in cash and donations of musical instruments and accessories would go towards keeping the spirits of musicians high while they are battling with cancer”, added the spokesperson.

Besides this Notes4Cancer plans to hold various fundraising events such as silent auctions, concerts and raffles, and sell merchandise.
