The founders established a track record of success in working with low-income students through the philanthropic efforts of Tutorpedia, Inc., a private education and tutoring business. In 2007, Tutorpedia, Inc. began serving underperforming students at failing Bay Area public schools as a state- authorized Supplemental Educational Services provider – a provision under Title I of the federal No Child Left Behind Act. Passionate about their social mission, Linden and Taus founded Tutorpedia Foundation to extend critical support to deserving students and provide a sustainable model to increase educational access to low-income students. Tutorpedia, Inc. supports Tutorpedia Foundation by donating a portion of its profits and assets to the non-profit, in addition to subsidizing directors’ salaries.
