Project Manager’s Guide to Delivering Perfect Presentations

Director Jennifer Whitt – Bridges, on one of Project Manager’s whiteboard sessions, February 10th, shares her own presentation techniques, including a checklist of things that she ensures before, during and after her presentation. On the same video, she mentioned that it really is important to know what the topic is all about. Once that’s secured, the speaker must then figure out who the audience is. Whitt – Bridges added that it is important to know who the topic is to be presented to. It is important to know, so that the speaker can practice the right pace, tone and approach to the audience.

Whitt – Bridges, with all her experience, still believe that projecting a presentation is one of the most stressful things a project manager can have. “- - this is one of the most frightening things that most project managers do. Even professional speakers still get those butterflies in their stomachs before they speak. So it’s important to get a good night’s rest, not to worry about your presentation, how things are going because you’ve done all this preparation. Just get a good night’s rest.” Jennifer Whitt – Bridges mentioned, in her whiteboard session video.

What was not expected in Jennifer’s video is the additional input that she shared, where even the most seasoned of speakers did not expect to see in a public video. “What a guide, many thanks and am presenting to an international organization in my country this afternoon. Lastly, what Whitt – Bridges wants to put a key note at is the area where the presentation is to be held. She was really specific on checking the stage, the sound, the Projector and everything else; a few minutes before the presentation begins, just to make sure that everything is in place. She was certain that trouble almost always comes, so the speaker should always have a contingency plan prepared, at most, be one step ahead of any situation.
