Nominations Open for BlogPaws Social Media and Pet Blogging Awards

Feb. 28, 2013 - PRLog -- As the first online pet community to establish an offline social media conference, BlogPaws seeks nominees for twelve different categories in the 2nd Annual BlogPaws “Nose-to-Nose” Social Media Pet Blogging Awards  (http://www.blogpaws.com). In addition to pet bloggers, pet people who microblog on Twitter and/or Facebook are eligible. A panel of professionals will judge the candidates based on creativity, expertise, and performance. Participants will not be required to garner votes or drive likes to their social media sites.

Nominations open at 12:00 PM EST on Wednesday, February 27th, 2013 and close at 3:00 PM EST on Friday, March 8th.  Bloggers may nominate themselves or other pet bloggers/microbloggers in the following categories:

Best Blog Design: judged on overall design elements of the blog homepage/landing page.
Best Blog Writing: judged on overall writing skill – is the message clear to the reader? Is the writing well-done? Is the blog post free of errors?
Best Humor Blog: judged on overall sense of humor – does it make us laugh?
Best Bark Blog: judged on the content as it applies to dogs and dog parents.
Best Meow Blog: judged on the content as it applies to cats and cat parents.
Best Wiggle Blog: judged on focus of blog toward non-traditional pets (i.e. ferrets, guinea pigs, chickens, etc.)
Best New Blog: less than one year old, with good content and engagement.
Best Cause Blog: judged on message, purpose and results as demonstrated on the blog.
Best Video on a Blog: judged independently (one video per blog); is it well done, focused, creative and purposeful?
Best Photo on a Blog: judged independently (one photo per blog); is it well done, focused, creative and purposeful?
Best Facebook Design: judged on overall design of Facebook header and use of special Facebook page features.
Best Twitter Design: judged on overall design elements for Twitter profile background.

The BlogPaws Social Media & Pet Bloggers Conference is the largest event of its kind for pet bloggers and social media enthusiasts to network with industry leaders and brands and learn new ways to optimize and monetize their social media channels. New to the 2013 Conference are custom-designed tracks, including 101 (Beginners), 201 (Intermediate), and PRO (Advanced). There will also be exclusive tracks for those interested in animal rescue and advocacy, understanding copyright and the legal responsibilities around social media, and pet lifestyle.

Finalists will be announced on or about March 15th and the winners will be awarded during a live red carpet awards ceremony during the conference, which takes place May 16-18, 2013, in Tyson's Corner, Virginia. Winners of the 2012 Awards can be viewed here:

Finalists of each Nose-to-Nose award will receive a badge to display on their blog and a free conference pass to BlogPaws 2013. Winners will receive a one of a kind personalized trophy at BlogPaws 2013. They will also be included in a collective donation of an embroidered Police Vest to an Artlington Police Department K-9, Hugo, along with a donation of oxygen masks for dogs, cats and small animals to local Fire Department(s). These donations will be presented live following the awards ceremony. Arlington Police Officer Tom Binckley and his K-9, Hugo, will both be present to accept their vest, as will at least one representative from a local Fire Department to accept the masks. The value of these collective donations is $2,000.
