Tracking and Managing Projects

One of the biggest reasons why project managers fail on their projects is the failure to track and manage the risks and changes that has evolved during the implementation process.

March 21, 2013 - PRLog -- La Habra, CA, March 2013 /ProjectManager/ -- Devin Deen, content director of Project Manager Ltd proctored a 5 minute video about managing and monitoring projects to help Project Managers get better results and fine tune things if needed during project implementation.

Project tracking and maintenance could be the hardest thing to deal with during the project management process, Communication within the project team is the most vital part in monitoring a project; most Project Managers fail to fill this checkbox which usually leads them to poor output or a failed project.

Project Meetings are important in project planning and fine tuning; hence, it is vital to have at least a few minutes of project meeting daily, either within a conference room or online.

Individual Catch-ups with team members – This is the most vital area of project monitoring, a good PM allocate at least 5 minutes to talk to each team member to follow up on what is happening, if there are hardships, issues or whatever is needed to make sure that each and everybody’s job is flowing swiftly.

Once issues within the team are determined, a good PM should take note of the risks and issues to create a fluid game-plan on fixing these hurdles. Have a timesheet of the action plans undertaken and complete this as soon as possible.

“Be updated on a daily basis, give and take regular status reports to make sure that the action plans are taking care of the reported project risks and how long it takes to resolve the issue. Once these things are taken care of, go back to the project meeting state, so that the clients would also get updated about the status of the project.”
