Follow on Google News | ColonoscopyAssist provides colonoscopy for uninsured in Omaha NebraskaThe ColonoscopyAssist program announced the launch of its screening program and awareness campaign in Omaha for colorectal cancer awareness month.
In its efforts to promote screening, ColonoscopyAssist will distribute patient literature on colon cancer prevention to over 100 primary physicians in the Omaha area. The literature will help explain the risks of colon cancer and how timely screening can prevent the third most common cancer. ColonoscopyAssist also launched its colonoscopy screening program for under-insured individuals on March 1st 2013. Patients qualifying for the program will be able to receive colonoscopy procedures at significantly subsidized rates. The program was made possible with the help of Midwest Gastrointestinal Associates and its gastroenterologists who have agreed to donate some of their time and resources in an effort to bring down the cost of the expensive procedure usually costing well over $2500. “We are pleased to expand our colon cancer screening activities to Nebraska. Partnerships with high quality centers such as Midwest Gastrointestinal Associates allow the program to provide the highest standard of care for our under-insured patients.” says Dr. Husein Poonawala, medical advisor at ColonoscopyAssist. “With 1 in every 20 affected by colorectal cancer, it is imperative that we do everything possible to encourage screening rates amongst the under-insured. Colonoscopies are considered the gold standard to screen and prevent colon cancer but are often avoided due to their high cost”. Primary physicians can request patient literature by calling (847)986 8999. Patients can request appointments at www.colonoscopyassist.com.
