Follow on Google News | Legendary Designer Peter Brock Comes to Carlisle in 2013Designer, Author and racing legend Peter Brock will be a special guest at the 2013 Carlisle Import & Kit Nationals, May 17-19 at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds.
By: Carlisle Events Brock is a highly regarded designer and author within the automotive hobby. Early work for him included time with the legendary Carroll Shelby and Shelby American. After leaving Shelby American in 1965, Brock launched his own company, Brock Racing Enterprises (a.k.a. BRE). Prior to doing so, however; Brock had some pretty impressive successes in the automotive design field, most notably penning the classic forms that would eventually become the famed ’63 “split window” Corvette Stingray, a design celebrating 50 years in 2013. In addition, after a move to the west coast, Brock designed the body for the World Championship winning Cobra Daytona Coupe for Shelby American. On his own with BRE, he not only was designing cars for companies like Hino, Toyota and Triumph, he also started his own race team. Brock literally put the Japanese automotive industry into the history books with his famed team of BRE Datsuns, winning two C Production National Championships with the 240Z and two 2.5 Trans-Am Championships with driver John Morton and his beloved BRE Datsun 510s. A true innovator within the industry, Brock will be available all weekend to meet with enthusiasts and "talk shop," while also signing autographs and posing for photos too. "I’m very excited to have Peter Brock at the Import & Kit Nationals as my special guest this year," said event manager Ed Buczeskie. "Many know him for his racing team, Brock Racing Enterprises and their many successes racing the Datsun 510 and 240Z but he’s also an icon in the automotive world with his design work on the 1963 Corvette Stingray and the Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe. There aren’t many people who are accomplished in both fields. Having him at Carlisle in May will further strengthen a show that grows annually." Media wishing to interview Mr. Brock during his visit to Carlisle may do so via coordination with Carlisle Events Media Relations Specialist Mike Garland. Interviews may take place via phone in the days leading up to an event or onsite at Carlisle. For more details, call 717-243-7855 x133 or e-mail MikeG@CarlisleEvents.com. End
