The Cherry Bomb Charmers Lace Up to Throw Down

ORANGE PARK, Fla. - April 15, 2013 - PRLog -- North Florida’s fastest-growing junior roller derby team, the Cherry Bomb Charmers, laces up to take the floor for an intra-league exhibition bout this coming Sunday, April 21st, providing knuckle-biting junior roller derby action at halftime during the Jade Grenades v. Space Coast Rocket Jockeys adult bout.  

The Charmers’ adult derby-sisters, the Tri-County Rolling Militia’s own Jade Grenades, will take on the Melbourne-based Space Coast Rocket Jockeys at the Skate Station Funworks located at 230 Blanding Blvd., in Orange Park, Florida, at 6:00pm on Sunday, April 21st.  Skate Station doors will open at 5:30pm for the bout; tickets are $10 in advance at the Skate Station box office and $12 at the door on the day of the event.  The Tri-County Rolling Militia is proud to offer free admission to all active-duty military with valid military ID.  

The April 21st bout will be the first opportunity for the Tri-County Rolling Militia to debut its junior team, the Cherry Bomb Charmers, since recruitment for the team began in late February.  The Charmers’ intra-league exhibition bout (White v. Red) will allow the junior skaters to showcase the skills they have accrued since joining the team.  “I think it’s awesome, I mean – it’s a night filled with roller derby,” said one roller derby fan, “The Jade Grenades are always intense, and I think that the Charmers’ exhibition bout will just carry that intensity through the halftime.”  

The goal of the Cherry Bomb Charmers junior roller derby team is to encourage young skaters to realize their full potential and to empower them to become courageous young women, radiating confidence on and off the track.  As a Charmer, junior derby skaters learn lifelong team-building skills; they learn strength and independence, all the while celebrating their own individuality and unique identity in an atmosphere of sisterhood and family-like stewardship.
