TAPA Set to Boost an Automotive Export And Claims Ground Breaking Record of 3Million Auto Production

BANG NA, Thailand - April 17, 2013 - PRLog -- The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), Ministry of Commerce, revealed a vibrant future of Thailand’s automotive industry as it claimed such victorious production and revenue over the past years. For brighter 2013, the industry has set a 2.55 million vehicles production target and expects a ground breaking record of 3 million vehicles by 2017. Supporting in full force, DITP has collaborated with auto-related industry in organizing Thailand Auto Parts & Accessories: a grand biennial fair aims to accelerate auto parts and accessories export to account a 1 billion baht target.

Mrs.Srirat Rastapana, DITP’s Director General revealed that: “Known for its tremendous potential and strong fundamental, an automotive industry plays a crucial role in steering the country toward the economic stability. Proudly to say that Thailand ranked the world’s No.1 production base for one ton pickup trucks and also scored the world’s ninth largest automobile producing nation in 2012. Furthermore, as ten ASEAN nations moving towards the ASEAN Economic Community or AEC, Thailand will open its front door to welcome investment from many leading manufacturers. The AEC challenge definitely will shift the country into a fast lane especially those newly emerged markets like CLMV countries -- Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam where more than 100 million labor aged population and massive consumption demand await.  

Thanks to rising demand for automobiles, Thailand set the record for 3 million units production target by 2017. As for 2013, an annual production is expected to reach 2.55 million units and account a significant 1 billion baht export. The Automotive Industry Group, Federation of Thailand Industries (FTI) reported that from January to February this year, the automotive export number has impressively expanded. The automotive products already claimed a total of 123,267.86 million baht export. With 181,224 units of cars exported and account a total of 81, 093, 08 million baht, a total 4, 598.84 million baht worth from exporting engines units while another 27,621.82 million baht worth were from auto parts export.
In addition, a spare parts export scored a total of 2,561.46 million baht revenue.

In the two month times, 142,387 units of motorcycles were exported and earned an impressive 5,829.94 million baht worth. Moreover, exported motorcycle parts claimed 1,416.53 million baht, while motorcycle spare parts accounted 146.19 million baht.

The DITP’s Director General further showed her strong confidence that the future for automotive industry continues to look bright and will continuously enjoy the untiring growth. She reaffirmed the country’s strong benefits such as the strategically location in the regional center offering a world-class production base, quality labors with exceptional skills which in highly demand. At the same time, government sector provides full support to the industry by encouraging development of skillful personnel for auto industry. Admittedly, private sector also holds such potential and solid quality proven by technologically supports has been given by international business partner.

         Mrs. Srirat also added that: “To further gear up Thailand’s automotive industry, DITP has been collaborated with the Thai Auto-Parts Manufactures Association, and the leading auto-related associations, in organizing ASEAN’s grandest automotive sourcing market, ‘Thailand Auto Parts & Accessories 2014’. TAPA 2014 brings together over 400 prime manufactures from across Thailand and foreign countries such as Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, China, and Vietnam to display latest innovations, eco-friendly cars, and green technology for sustainable growth. In brief, Thailand Auto Parts & Accessories set to prepare the country’s readiness for AEC era.
