Follow on Google News | Possible Cellulite Cure, A Study RevealsA new study which was published in a certain journal called Aesthetic Surgery revealed that a mixture of treatments with the use of laser and fat transplantation presents a promising cure for cellulite.
By: Modern Workers Cellulite is caused by bands of fibrous tissue that connect the muscle to the skin,” says Dr. Alan Gold, the president of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. “If these bands are tight and the fat between the muscle and the skin bulges out between them there will be dimpling over each of those bands. There is nothing otherwise special or unique about the fat itself in those areas.” Everyone can be a victim of cellulite as it’s pretty much common among men and women. The treatment which was shown in the journal revealed laser energy used under the skin stimulates collagen formation, skin tightening and reduce fatty tissue. Then this laser treatment is followed up by injections of the patient’s fats which is used to fill the depressed areas. With this visible improvement, there are some side effects but most of them are only mild and temporary. “The search for the cause of cellulite and effective treatments is ongoing, however, the combination of a minimally-invasive pulsed laser treatment and autologous fat transplantation represents a viable option for women who have severe cases of cellulite,” says Robert Gotkin, MD. “All treatments have limitations and since cellulite is a chronic condition, the patient must understand that there are no miracle procedures and multiple treatments may be necessary.” Doctors used these methods on about 52 women with ages ranging from 18 to 47. All of them had severe cases of cellulite and have not undergone any particular treatments like lipoplasty or subcision. After the laser treatment and fat injections, patients have undergone some massage to distribute the fat and they had to return the next day for physiotherapeutic postop treatments. The follow up period ranged from almost a year up to 3 years. As a result 87% of the patients said that the procedures were good or even excellent. “This is such a promising study,” says a doctor from http://www.getbodylase.com/ “Although there is currently no ‘cure’ for cellulite, this study provides hope for people who have the most severe cases,” says Foad Nahai, MD, editor of the said journal.
