Meet Award Winning News Anchor Brenda Blackmon

PRLog -- The Burning Bush Christian Bookstore, as a part of its TBB Literary Series, has partnered with The Kelly Fund for Lupus and will be hosting Author and Emmy Award Winning News Anchor, Brenda Blackmon on Sunday May 5, 2013, from 3 P.M to 5 P.M., at The Coffee Cave, 45 Halsey St., Newark, NJ. This fundraiser will be a meet and greet book signing with Brenda Blackmon as she discusses “A Mom’s Story”, the story of her own daughters’ battle with Lupus. “Nine out of ten people who have lupus are women, of which, it is three times more common in African-American women than in Caucasian women”. Lupus is one of the many autoimmune diseases where the immune system turns against parts of the body it is supposed to protect and it affects 1.5 million people in the United States. This event is a fundraiser for the Kelly Fund for Lupus. The cost of the event ($30 dollars), includes a $10 dollar registration fee and $20 dollars for the book “A Mom’s Story”, signed by Brenda Blackmon. Brenda graduated Magna Cum Laude from Fairleigh Dickinson University and has received two honorary doctorates. She is now working on her MBA. About The Kelly Fund For Lupus The Kelly Fund for Lupus, Inc., a 501(c) 3 organization, was founded in May 2008 by Brenda Blackmon. When her daughter Kelly was diagnosed with lupus, Kelly vowed after her life threatening recovery to make a difference in combating this disease. Lupus is a chronic inflammatory disease that can affect various parts of the body, especially the skin, joints, blood and kidneys. Much of the money raised by The Kelly Fund For Lupus, Inc. goes to the Alliance for Lupus Research and in other ways by promoting awareness and understanding of the disease. “Lupus is three times more common among African American Women, and more common in women of Hispanic, Asian and Native American Descent.”
