By: Queen Of The Brides On April 27, 2013, TeKay Designs showcased their multi cultural and couture bridal gowns, grooms suits and African flowergirl dresses at the Ultimate Wedding Showcase hosted by WBLS and The Circle of Sisters. The event was held at the Hilton New York hotel (1335 Avenue of the Americas between 53rd and 54th Streets, New York City). The Ultimate Wedding Showcase included a vendor exhibition, marriage seminar, and the well attended fashion show. TeKay Designs presented wedding dresses and groom’s attire representing ancient Queens and women of royalty from ancient civilizations in Egypt, India, Ethiopia, Kenya, and West Africa at the Ultimate Wedding Showcase. TeKay Designs debut several new African bridal gowns representing the Maasai bride from Kenya and Queen of Sheba from Ethiopia. The Maasai wedding dress and cape has colorful hand made Maasai earrings, imported from Kenya, hand stitched on the fabric. The dress and cape are made of super cotton jacquard fabric imported from West Africa. The Maasai people in East Africa are a proud nomadic warrior tribe whose women wear elaborate and colorful bead necklaces. The Queen of Sheba dress has a shirred chiffon bodice with delicate crystal and glass appliqués in front . The lovely chiffon cape with appliqué puts the finishing touch to this bridal gown. The Queen of the Brides collection showcases multi cultural gowns and jewelry that are distinguished by unparalleled elegance, culture and modern luxury. “This collection incorporates regal looks inspired by historic Egyptian monarchs Queen Nefertiti and Cleopatra, and women of royalty from various countries around the world. The regal headpieces and statement necklace that accentuate the gowns were designed with the Queens of Egypt, India, South Africa, Ghana, Kenya in mind. Each bridal gown is worn with a headpiece or veil, jewelry, embroidery or beading stitched onto the gown.” states Fashion Designer, Kimma Wreh. In modern weddings, the bridal veil complements the bridal gown, highlights the bride’s appearance and features, and is the final crowning touch.
