Zotec Partners now providing outsourced billing services to Kettering Anesthesia Associates

Throughout the 1980s, KAA had its own proprietary billing company. As the practice progressed, it faced challenges keeping up with the billing for 25,000 cases each year. The group made the decision to outsource billing to a Zotec Partners competitor, but was not satisfied with the results. That experience led KAA to shift its billing to Zotec Partners.

A 46-year-old anesthesia practice, KAA has predominately partnered with the Kettering Health Network at its main facility, Kettering Medical Center, as well as the Sycamore Medical Center campus. In addition, the practice provides coverage to two rural hospitals, Wilson Memorial Hospital and Wayne Hospital.

“It creates a lot of pitfalls and liability issues when the anesthesia side of operations is not separate from billing,” Egbert said. “It’s very hard to keep up with technology, HIPAA and compliance with the changes around the Affordable Care Act and ICD-10. We knew our billing was going to become overwhelming and we needed to ensure the process was in the hands of experts.”

KAA consists of 26 physician partners and employs around 68 full- and part-time certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) and anesthesiologists. The educational backgrounds of its physicians cover a highly esteemed curriculum with residency training at Loma Linda University, Wright State University, Ohio State University, University of Cincinnati, Emory University, Indiana University, West Virginia University, Oral Roberts University and Duke University. The practice’s anesthesiologists are certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and its CRNAs are certified by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists.
