Follow on Google News | USN SAR Combat Swimmer & Author Chuck Meier To Guest on "Ask The Chief"Tune In As We Continue To Celebrate The Service Of Our Military Vets
By: Vision-Strike-Wear.Com Chuck Meier is a former U.S. Navy SAR Combat Rescue Swimmer. He served two tours as a Rescue Swimmer and was one of the first crewman on the Sikorsky H-3 & Huey H-1 Helicopters. After serving in the Navy, Chuck served as a Crash Rescue Fireman on NAS Key West Crash Rescue, was Deputy Sheriff in Monroe County and served both on the S.W.A.T and Dive Teams. From 2003 to 2006 he was a security contractor for both CONUS and OCONUS, working for Black Water and SOC providing asset, convoy and personal protection wherever needed. It was in 2006 during a tour in Tikrit, Iraq that the vehicle Chuck was traveling in was struck by an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) causing the loss of his right left just below the knew. As you can imagine, the recovery was tough. With the support and the encouragement of his family, Chuck got to writing about his life and that gave life to a new Author and book called “Letters from the Sandbox (http://www.lettersfromthesandbox.com)”. If you ask Chuck to tell you what the book’s about, he’ll say this: “It’s just like a good bowl of Texas Chili; a little spicy and there’s a good chance it’ll bring a tear to your eyes. It’s politically incorrect as the day is long BUT it is a great read for anyone who’s in the Military, Law Enforcement, their spouses or anyone who likes a good story”. Show host, Maria Warnick, had a quick chat with Chuck this weekend and she said she found him to be one of the most genuine and positive people you will ever meet. Every time she greeted him on the phone with a “How are you?”, he always replies the same way, “Happy to be breathing”. There is certainly more behind this great American Hero but we’ll save it for the show and hope that you will tune in as we discuss his service as a Navy SAR, the loss of his right leg, his bout with Post Traumatic Stress and what advice he offers to fellow veterans.
