UNION CITY, N.J. - May 23, 2013 - PRLog -- Union City, New Jersey -- Sartonk Designs is proud to announce the release of the International Women’s Boxing Federation’s (IWBF) World Championship Belt.

This belt was first created for the IWBF in 1992, when the organization was founded by Frank Globuschutz. Working under Philip Valentino’s Valentino Originals, Ardash Sahaghian designed the belt for the new women’s boxing sanctioning body. More than twenty years later, Sartonk Designs has recreated that same belt for the IWBF.

“We’ve come full circle, yet again,” says Edward S. Majian, President of SARTONK. “My grandfather [Sahaghian] created the first IWBF belt, and we’ve had the opportunity to reproduce it after so many years. And to do this with my grandfather is simply a blessing.”

“The belt looks beautiful, just like it did back then,” Globuschutz beams. He recalls his visits in the early 1990s to Valentino’s shop where Sahaghian would be hard at work on the belts. He hopes that this belt will be “a symbol of women’s boxing for the next 100 years.”

An established and well-respected organization, the IWBF was crowning female world champions at a time when women in boxing was still a new concept. Unfortunately, due to severe injuries from a car accident, Globuschutz was forced to take a hiatus from his career in boxing in 2008.

Friday, May 24th, will mark the first IWBF World Championship fight since Globuschutz’s return to boxing and the rebirth of the sanctioning body this year. Doors to the Westchester County Center in White Plains, New York, will open at 6:00 pm for “Fight Night.” Married to world champion boxer Kathy Collins, the long-time promoter and devotee of the sport is elated about the event. “The women’s bout is the main event of the card. That’s a big statement about who we are,” expresses Globuschutz.  He is confident that this will be the first of many IWBF title fights.

“We congratulate the IWBF for its return to boxing and appreciate its ardent promotion of women in boxing. We’re pleased to be highlighting the role of women in our great sport,” intimates Majian.

To purchase tickets to “Fight Night,” contact Dee Lee Promotions at 609.868.4243, The Academy of Boxing at 631.673.3520 or Ticketmaster at 1.800.745.3000.
