South Florida Sports Talk show host, Beth Silverberg, took the initiative on June 13, 2013, and launched a nationwide campaign, beginning with a Public Service Announcement, to raise awareness on sports related concussions, a growing epidemic that is sweeping the professional football industry.

Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) is a progressive degenerative disease, diagnosed post-mortem in individuals with a history of multiple concussions and other forms of head injuries. “We need to make America aware that multiple concussions can cause severe long term problems, and children as young as 10 years old are getting concussions on the football field,” expressed Beth Silverberg, Producer and Creator of “The Sports Girls” an upcoming all-female hosted sports talk show.

The premise of the recently aired public service announcement created by Silverberg, “A-head of the Game,” brings to light, the seriousness of these injuries, and the daunting future of retired NFL athletes. The recent death of Junior Seau is the second former N.F.L. player to lose his life to suicide, and is quickly becoming a catalyst for more and more players, retired and current, to speak out and open up about the suffering they have endured due to head injuries inflicted on the ball field.

Silverberg’s ultimate goal is to create the Documentary, "A Head Of The Game", a film that will educate America on the dangers of concussions, through the NFL athletes who suffer from them. “We will hear from expert Neurologists like Dr. Daniel Amen who is conducting the largest study on CTE, and chronic brain disorders on NFL athletes. We also plan to donate a significant amount of money for research and ongoing studies related to athletes and chronic brain injuries,” Silverberg added. Proceeds for production of this documentary need to be raised no later than August 1st, 2013.
