FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - July 2, 2013 - PRLog -- New Lincoln Assassination Book Available From Kickstarter Project

The first ever non-fiction book covering the life of Major Henry R. Rathbone is available from a new Kickstarter project.  The book, Worst Seat in the House, from author Caleb Stephens, examines the life of Henry Rathbone, his involvement in Abraham Lincoln's assassination, and how the trauma of that night affected him later in life.  Worst Seat in the House details how Henry's early life, the Civil War, and Lincoln's Assassination affected his mind and how those moments molded a man that dealt with mental illness like few people have seen. Henry lived first hand through the assassination of one of the United States greatest men, then let the killer escape from his grasp.  This new book covers what that experience does to a man and what part it may have played in Henry murdering his wife Clara eighteen years later.

The Kickstarter project also provides another interesting book as part of a companion set for Abraham Lincoln fans and researchers of the Lincoln Assassination.  One of the rewards for backers of the book is, The Lincoln Assassination: Research Compilation. This book includes the transcripts of the trial for the murder of Abraham Lincoln, a wonderful book written by John Gilmary Shea titled The Lincoln Memorial, and includes several other documents and articles that give important insight into the Lincoln Assassination.

The life of Henry Rathbone has been largely ignored, both past and present.  This book is the first to fully investigate a man that sat so close to history.  Rathbone had the chance to change his life and become a hero, but instead he was forgotten and had to deal with that as he lived his remaining twenty-eight years in an insane asylum.
