Interos Launches Global Threat Information Center for Supply Chain Analysis

Solution Offers Greater Visibility in Enterprise Supply Chain Risks, Probabilities
By: Interos

MCLEAN, Va. - July 9, 2013 - PRLog -- Interos Solutions, Inc. (Interos) launched its Global Threat Information Center (GTIC) today, offering greater visibility of the potential risks in an organization’s supplier base. The GTIC is built on an Enterprise Governance, Risk Management and Compliance (eGRC) platform and provides visibility into the risks and vulnerabilities of an organization via its network of suppliers. The tool enables each client to define risk priorities based a range of concerns that may include cybersecurity, industrial security controls, system controls, as well as financial and ownership information. The GTIC’s services include supplier questionnaires, open-source analysis, supplier site audits, as well as standards compliance verification among others.
"Supply chain risk management, including cybersecurity, requires that we manage risk from the beginning of the supply chain to the end of it,” said Jennifer Bisceglie, President of Interos. “We need to take the time to understand who we’re doing business with, through the multiple layers of global sourcing. The need for a higher level of awareness about the risk, and how each person in the acquisition cycle plays a role, cannot be stressed enough. Supplier relationships - and the risks they can introduce to a business - are now in the forefront of every enterprise conducting business with global partners.”
The GTIC was developed in response to the globalization of today’s marketplace, which is driving technological advancements faster than nations are able to securely design, procure, and deploy solutions; thus exacerbating supply chain risk and cybersecurity vulnerabilities. “Adversaries are exploiting vulnerabilities associated with outdated procedures and technology, as well as non-integrated authorities and processes, to access, disrupt and damage daily organizational operations,” said Bisceglie.
"Of the three main attack vectors in cyber security (remote/proximate, insider, and supply chain), the supply chain is the most daunting. A determined enemy can inject 'trouble' into the requirements. design, manufacture, transit, installation, or maintenance phases, which makes it supremely difficult to monitor and stop. A credible, efficient SCRM system is absolutely essential. The GTIC concept is a huge step forward. It is practical, executable, and within the grasp of most agencies without huge technology investments. The supply chain risk must be mitigated, and the GTIC appears to be the right answer at this time,” Dr. Steven P. Bucci, Former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, and Cyber Consultant, FRDA, LLC and FTT LLC.
