Karen Lane Selected to Serve as the Executive Director of Chartway FCU's We Promise Foundation

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - July 10, 2013 - PRLog -- Chartway Federal Credit Union, one of the largest credit unions in the country known for providing money-saving solutions and competitive rates,

is proud to announce that it has selected Karen Lane to lead its charitable arm – the We Promise Foundation – as its executive director.

Lane comes to Chartway’s We Promise Foundation following several years at Gold Key/PHR Hotels and Resorts where she served as the marketing communications manager.  During this time, she handled direct marketing and promotional activities for eight oceanfront restaurants, served as the primary press liaison for the hospitality company, and managed major charitable events, including the East Coast Surfing Championship, Neptune Festival, American Music Festival and many others.

Prior to working for Gold Key / PHR, Karen held roles in marketing and account management for the Executive Evaluation Center, Leni Enterprises, Inc., WVEC Channel 13 and Northwestern Mutual Life.

“Karen’s experience in marketing, event management, and in the philanthropic sector make her an excellent choice to lead our foundation at this time,” said John Blum, chairman of the We Promise Foundation.  “We feel fortunate to have found such a qualified, strategic leader who deeply and profoundly believes in the important work we do for heroic children battling life-threatening illnesses in the communities we serve.”

The Foundation is currently working with WAVY TV-10 and FOX 43 to help raise money through a special Donation Challenge taking place through July 14^th. Throughout the week, viewers will see commercials airing on WAVY TV-10 and FOX 43 – and banners on their websites – inviting them to make a donation to the We Promise Foundation.

Whether viewers donate $1 or $100, this campaign offers the Hampton Roads community – known for its incredible spirit of care and generosity - a rare opportunity to participate in a life-changing opportunity.
