Marion County Veterans Helping Veterans (VHV), Inc. program is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization formed in 1997 for the purpose of assisting veterans. The organization currently works with the Department of Veterans Affairs to assist veterans through the use of volunteers and donations while acting as the veteran’s advocate. The VHV evaluates and assesses the needs of veterans and then assist them with dignity in making the appropriate referrals to the VA and/or other support agencies. The VHV program maintains and runs a scheduled transportation service to the VA Hospital in Gainesville from the VA Clinic in Ocala. They assist veterans in finding employment while providing veterans and their families with counseling, referral, advocacy and direct social service assistance, including food, clothing, gasoline vouchers and limited financial assistance for rent, utilities, and special dietary needs. Also of note the VHV is working with our local law enforcement agencies, the courts, public defender and state’s attorney in establishing a veterans court for Marion County. All direct donations and contributions are tax deductible. The organization is run by an Executive Director who is supervised by a distinguished Board of Directors comprised of veterans’ and non veteran leaders in the community. Marion County Veterans Helping Veterans, Inc. is located at 1527 NE 8th Avenue, Ocala, FL 34470-4247. Phone: 352-433-2320.
