PRLog -- Attorney Evan Guthrie of the Evan Guthrie Law Firm in Charleston, South Carolina spoke about the legal profession at career day at Stratford High School in Goose Creek, SC on Tuesday March 19th 2013. The event is held every year at the Berkeley County school and gives students a chance to meet business leaders at local companies and professionals form the Charleston, SC area. Several groups of students are excused from their regularly scheduled classes and are led by their teachers to the school library to interact with different careers and professions. Each session lasted twenty to thirty minutes and the entire event lasted a little over two hours in time. Each career was given its own separate table and students were free to come to a table and learn more about a career that interested them. Many students were interested in the legal profession and becoming a lawyer and had many questions to ask. The students in attendance were required to ask questions contained on a form to complete an assignment for attending the event that included basic questions such as what skills are required for the career and how much school or training is needed. Many students asked questions beyond what was required of the form such as what they could do as high school students to get experience and internships and what the most rewarding part about being a lawyer was.
Attorney Evan Guthrie enjoyed his time spent at the career day event and the knowledge he was able to impart on potential future lawyers and members of the legal community. This was the second consecutive year that Mr. Guthrie was able to take part in the event after being invited back after taking part in his first career day at Stratford. Attorney Guthrie also enjoyed interacting with several of the other careers represented including aviation, military, technology, and several colleges. Mr. Guthrie was joined at the event by his law clerk, Kimaya Brown, whom was able to answer questions about her life as a college student and aspiring lawyer. Attorney Guthrie looks forward to being able to give back to the community and participate in future events at Stratford High School.
