By: PS Racing Round 7 of the 2013 Audi R8 LMS Cup took place Friday morning at the famous Sepang International F1 Circuit in Malaysia, with a live broadcast on the Audi R8 LMS Cup website and plenty of close racing action to the excitement of spectators and online viewers. Held at 11:50am on a challenging still partially damp circuit, PS Racing-coached driver Sun Zheng put on a good show as he continued what Audi commentators mentioned as a ‘great season’ for the Chinese competitor. After qualifying in 6th, Sun Zheng moved up to P5 by the end of the first lap, with South Korean driver Kyong You just behind. By lap 3, Kyong had just managed to get by Sun Zheng, who continued to battle with Kyong for the remainder of the race, often less than a half-second behind the South Korean. Finishing the race in a strong 6th place of 21 to earn 8 points in the championship standings, Zheng once again showed he is a contender in the challenging professional driver category. PSR-coached drivers Ren Wei 'Ricky' and Sun Jing Zu 'JZ' qualified 6th and 7th in the Amateur class, respectively, with Ren Wei taking to the podium 3rd in the Amateur class, and JZ finishing 5th. In Round 8, held Saturday at 10am under good track conditions, PS Racing-coached drivers again had a strong showing, with Sun Zheng starting in P6 and again battling with South Korean driver Kyong You. Unfortunately, in lap 4, Sen Zheng slid wide when going to pass Kyong, allowing 7th place driver Wei Fond Thong to get by. Thong went on to pass Kyong to take P5, with Kyong finishing to the checkered in P6 and Sun Zheng taking 8th. However, in the Amateur class, PSR-coached driver Ren Wei 'Ricky' finished 4th just off the podium, with JZ continuing his improvement to finish ahead yet another position, in 5th. Audi R8 LMS Cup action will continue in Shanghai with Rounds 9&10 on October 25-27, and conclude at the famous Macau GP on November 9-10.
