GRAPEVINE, Texas - Sept. 3, 2013 - PRLog -- AT&T Syn248 Small Business Phone System

If you are a small business using 8 phones or less and need a cheap phone system, the Syn248 small business phone system may be for you. The Syn248 uses your existing analog phone lines to connect outside the company, and your LAN to communicate inside the company. The Syn248 offers small companies the professional sound and presentation that is usually reserved for larger enterprises. The Syn248 offers up to 4 auto-attendant menus, a dial-by-name menu, and an option for both day and night/weekend answer modes.

The AT&T Syn248 phone system consists of a Syn248 analog gateway andSyn248 desk phones (http://executivetelephony.com/products/index.php?pid=153&name=VoIP+Phone+Systems+Dallas&loc=6). Each Syn248 gateway will connect you to up to 4 PSTN lines using FXO ports. You can use 1 or 2 Syn248 gateways for your business, meaning that your phone system can have up to 8 analog phone lines connecting you to your phone company. You can connect up to 24 Syn248 desk phones to your Syn248 gateway using a 24 port switch. Regardless of how many Syn248 phones you have connected to your system, you are limited to as many concurrent outside calls as PSTN lines you have connected to your system. So if you have 1 gateway with 4 PSTN lines, you can make up to 4 outside calls concurrently, however internal calls are unlimited.

It is important to know that the Syn248 is a proprietary system. The Syn248 analog gateway holds the PBX software. The Syn248 will ONLY work with Syn248 desk phones. They will not work with other branded phones or other models of AT&T or Synapse desk phones.

What we DONT Like;

1) Analog trunk lines.  AT&T is dumping their trunk lines because of the cost and fading use of the old technlogy.  This is totally inconsistant with what moves they made the summer of 2012 (http://executivetelephony.com/news/article.php?id=144).

2) Proprietary Sets.  Holy cow is this old.  Would you choose a cellular carrier if the only phone you could use would be their line of phones with limited old fashion features?  This died in the late 90's.

3) No SIP trunking.  This is where it's all at.  Heck the Central Offices use SIP to transport all voice calls today and have to, "Dummy" down to Analog (Which again is dying).

4) Not the same AT&T your Momma grew up with.  Remember folks, AT&T (The hardware side) was sold to Alcatel (French) many moons ago.  It's no longer the great company it used to be.

Our Recommendation:

If you have 10 phones or less, consider a Hosted (Cloud) based provider.  You have more options on the phone manufacturer (Cisco, Polycom, Yealink...) and plenty more phone options that can utilize SIP trunks at a much greater savings. Plus you don't have to be concerned about maintenance cost as all software and PBX cost(s) are covered by the service provider.

Call the guys at Executive Telephony for a Hosted quote.
