HOUSTON - Sept. 4, 2013 - PRLog -- Texas Swim Academy has ranked in the 2013 Fast 100 list put out by the Houston Business Journal. Each year the journal assembles a list of the 100 fastest growing private companies in the greater Houston area. The list includes companies from a variety of industries and backgrounds that have overcome obstacles to rapidly grow their business between the years of 2010 and 2012. While the list is ranked by revenue growth, companies were also considered for their innovation and community involvement.

“It’s an honor to be chosen as a Houston Fast 100 Firm,” said Kathleen McMordie, owner of Texas Swim Academy. “We are thrilled to be able to pass on our passion for swimming to a whole new generation while also instilling valuable water safety and life-saving skills.”

Positive Community Impact
Kathleen and her husband Bruce McMordie started the academy eight years ago to teach infant aquatics and water safety to Katy and Houston area children. With a unique passion for aquatic instruction and child safety, Kathleen takes great comfort and personal satisfaction in imparting skills to her students that could one day save their lives. The impact on the swimmers and their families is clear as soon as you walk into the academy. Small children approach the water with excitement and confidence as mothers swap stories of toddlers and infants falling into backyard pools and saving themselves with the skills learned from Kathleen and her instructors.     It’s these stories that have spurred the McMordies on over the past few years as they worked tirelessly to find new ways to fund and grow their business while creating the best aquatic programs in the city. Their hard work is paying off. While other businesses measure their success with graphs, charts and bottom lines, Kathleen and Bruce measure theirs with lives saved and changed.

“We know that we are giving something back to the people of Katy, Houston, and surrounding communities when we hear someone tell us that their child has fallen into the water and saved his own life by floating or swimming to the edge,” said Kathleen. “It is a priceless gift that we hope to be giving for years to come.”
