MARMARIS, Turkey - Oct. 1, 2013 - PRLog -- During the early morning hours in the Aegean sea region, Mugla province of Turkey, an expected storm brought on alterations in itineraries for blue cruise travelers still at sea. The peak of the storm only lasted for a few hours with rain, heavy winds, making for rough sea conditions.  Holidaymakers who started on a warm, bright and sunny gulet blue voyage were forced to find shelter during the storm in bays along the coast.  All planned itineraries to visit certain destinations during their private gulet cruises were cancelled - while they were left without choice but to wait out the storm before continuing with their travels at sea.

The 47 km southwesterly winds reached 65 km per hour producing uncomfortable conditions at sea and on land.  While inland some streets in Marmaris experienced minor floods.  Restaurants in Bodrum were affected by the overflow from crashing waves onto the promenade. Vacationers in shorts and t-shirts had to take cover in shops and other establishments until the weather conditions subsided.  According to local news agencies 18.8 kg of rain poured in aproximately 20 minutes in certain areas.

Private yacht owners in open waters took their yachts to safety as well.  Many of the Marmaris daily boat trips were cancelled due to these unfavorable weather conditions.  It was the first storm of the upcoming fall season and is expected to last until the weekend with rain and clouds.  Last year this time, in 2012,  similar weather conditions were experienced in the Aegean region.
