The Tabernacle Church to Sponsor Rites of Passage Program For Young African-American Males

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, N.J. - Oct. 3, 2013 - PRLog -- The Tabernacle Church is sponsoring a new rites of passage program called ‘Ulendo’, which is designed to help young African-American boys navigate their way through adolescence and make a smooth, successful transition to manhood. Boys will enroll with a male family mentor and together, through a series of activities and events, they will be equipped with the tools they need to become upstanding young men and positive role models for others.

“This program is uniquely designed to help African-American boys develop into pillars that their families and communities can depend on. What really distinguishes this program from the many others that exists is that applicants must have a family mentor. This makes it possible for the knowledge that will be shared to not only have a positive impact on the current generation, but to reach back to other generations and start a new cycle of growth,” said De’Andre Salter, Senior Pastor of The Tabernacle Church.

On Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 11:00AM, an informational and enrollment session will be held at The Tabernacle Church in South Plainfield, NJ where parents are invited to come and learn more about the core values of the program, what they can expect should they decide to enroll their child, and how this is a program that will positively impact their family for generations to come.
