DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - Nov. 20, 2013 - PRLog -- Delray Beach teenager Rebecca Markert is headed to Hollywood, California next week to compete in the National American Miss pageant. As one of two Florida representatives, Rebecca will compete against hundreds of Miss Junior Teen state winners from around country for the title of National American Miss junior Teen Queen. The competition will begin November 25 with the winner being crowned on December 1, 2013.

Rebecca beat out hundreds of other Florida teens when she won the title of Miss Florida Junior Teen at the State of Florida’s National American Miss pageant held in Miami in late July. While the 16-year-old played the ukulele during the talent portion of the state competition, during nationals she will focus on the following categories: actress, casual wear, spokesperson and photogenic contests.

It has been a whirlwind four months for the junior Pope John Paul II High School student since winning the Miss Florida Junior Teen title. Besides her regular high school responsibilities, including being a member of her school’s cheerleading squad and currently playing the role of Cinderella in her school’s Fall production of “Fairy Tale Christmas,” Rebecca volunteered at Miami’s Children’s Hospital alongside of Virginia of the KVJ Show on 97.3 Radio; officially kicked off the Jeff Annas Memorial Firefighters 5K race in Wellington; attended NASCAR’s Homestead Miami Championship race with the Ford team; tried out for NBC’s hit TV show “Americas Got Talent”; and made appearances at numerous local community events.

“My experience as Miss Florida Junior Teen has been a dream come true,” said Rebecca. “I’ve had the greatest time representing the National American Miss organization at a number of Florida events and more importantly helping to bring a voice to a fantastic local charity, Little Smiles. I can’t wait to compete in Nationals and see what the rest of this year brings!”

Rebecca became actively involved with Little Smiles, a Florida-based non-profit organization dedicated to children, which she chose as her campaign platform. Little Smiles is a non-profit volunteer organizations based in Florida that provides toys, movies, computers, celebrity meet-and-greets, concert and sporting event tickets, theme park trips, junk food runs, and much more to children in local hospitals, hospices and shelters throughout Florida.
