Broadcasters Club of Florida to Honor FOX 13 News Anchor John Wilson at December 13th Luncheon

SARASOTA, Fla. - Dec. 3, 2013 - PRLog -- (Sarasota, FL)  John Wilson, one of the most recognized and longest-serving news anchors in Tampa Bay television history will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Broadcasters Club of Florida, it was announced today.

In accepting the prestigious award Mr. Wilson, of FOX, Channel 13 in Tampa, will be the keynote speaker at the Club's Friday December 13 luncheon meeting at the Sara Bay Country Club in Sarasota.

“I worked with John Wilson every day for five years when I was the Sarasota Bureau Chief for Fox News,” said Ray Collins, President of the BCF. “I've never learned more from an anchor. His approach to the news and his delivery is exceptional”

Mr. Wilson joined the FOX News 13 team in 1993. He was born in the coal-mining town of Big Stone Gap, Virginia. He studied journalism, English and drama at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia.

He has anchored primetime newscasts on CBS, NBC, and ABC affiliate stations in Richmond, Norfolk, St. Louis, Charlotte, and St. Petersburg.

Throughout his career, Mr. Wilson has covered national and international events from Panama, Saudi Arabia, Romania, Havana, Haiti, Normandy, and Moscow and is recognized around the country as one of television’s finest news commentators

The Broadcasters Club of Florida luncheon meeting is open to the public. ($20 for members, $22 for non-members) The Broadcasters Club meets the second Friday each month from October through April. Socializing begins at 11:30 and lunch begins at Noon.
