Dr. George John Alexander Celebrates 20th Anniversary Practicing Medicine in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS - Dec. 9, 2013 - PRLog -- George John Alexander (http://www.alexandermd.com/), M.D., F.A.C.S., board-certified plastic and cosmetic surgeon, celebrates 20 years of practicing medicine in Las Vegas starting in January 2014. To mark the occasion, his Summerlin-based practice plans to attend, volunteer or donate to 20 local charities throughout the year.  He will also offer patients the opportunity to take advantage of $20 consultations (regularly $99) for select procedures.  In August his office plans to host a special event honoring the Las Vegas medical community and his patients.

“Becoming a good surgeon takes dedication and hard work, but achieving lasting success comes only with the support of an exceptional staff and medical community,” said Dr. Alexander, who launched his career in Las Vegas in 1994, as the founder and chief of plastic surgery at Mike O’Callaghan Federal Hospital.  He also established Nellis Air Force Base’s plastic surgery and reconstructive services. “This 20^th anniversary milestone is really a celebration of the growth of our community.”

Dr. Alexander’s staff has a longstanding practice of volunteering for a different local charity each month. In 2014, he and his team will increase that number to give back to 20 deserving charities. “As longtime Las Vegas residents, we’ve learned that in order to build community you have to play an active role in your community,” said Anita Alexander, Dr. Alexander’s wife of 25 years who also manages the practice. “Our staff helps to identify the local organizations where we can make an impact, then we participate as a team.” In 2012-2013, some of those charities included; Opportunity Village, Ronald McDonald House, The American Cancer Society, Dress for Success and the Vegas Roots Community Garden.

Starting in January, Dr. Alexander is offering $20 consultations for select procedures. The service includes use of the patient education video center, a session with a patient counselor and a consultation with Dr. Alexander. In August, Dr. Alexander and his staff plan to host a special evening to honor their patients and peers. Details on the event will be announced in the weeks ahead.

“Working alongside some of the finest medical professionals in the United States, I’ve had the unique opportunity to be a part of a young city’s growth and development,” said Dr. Alexander, pointing to the alliances established with major medical institutions as well as the growth of both the Clark County and the Nevada State Medical Societies. “Looking at how far we’ve come, that’s cause for celebration.”

Dr. Alexander established his private practice in 1998 and the following year he was named Mountain View Hospital’s chief of plastic surgery, a post he held for a decade.  He is a past president of the Clark County Medical Society, the recipient of two Surgeon General Awards and has consistently been named as one of Las Vegas’ top plastic surgeons by his patients and peers.
