NAAFA Announces New Chapter in Nevada

FOSTER CITY, Calif. - Jan. 4, 2014 - PRLog -- Foster City, CA - The NAAFA Board of Directors is happy to announce that they have unanimously approved a chapter in Clark County, Nevada with a vote of 6:0.  The chapter will be known as NAAFA-Clark County and NAAFA-CC.

NAAFA-CC Officers are:

President – Darliene Howell
Vice President/Secretary – Dawn Jett
Treasurer – Jeanne Fenton
NAAFA National Board Liason:  Peggy Howell

The Clark County Chapter will include Las Vegas, North Las Vegas and Henderson.  It is the intent of the chapter to work on projects to support the local size-acceptance community and the valley community at large. Examples of this are engaging members in working on projects such as the local End Bullying Now Campaign; the Size Savvy Project which is a list of size-friendly businesses; a list of Size-Positive Healthcare Providers; and other projects and events.  This information will be made available on a Chapter website: www.naafa-cc.org which is currently under construction.  Promotion of the chapter, projects and events will be through social media such as Facebook, Twitter and the website. The officers plan to conduct fund-raising events for the chapter and the End Bullying Now campaign throughout the year.

Founded in 1969, NAAFA is a non-profit human rights organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for fat people. NAAFA works to eliminate discrimination based on body size and provide fat people with the tools for self-empowerment through public education, advocacy, and member support.
