Voice Over Booth Camp Debuts in NYC on Feb. 15

Hands-on workshops around the country to be presented by VoiceOverXtra

NEW YORK - Jan. 12, 2014 - PRLog -- A series of one-day Voice Over Booth Camp workshops debuts February 15 in New York City at Edge Studio, a leading voice over recording and training studio near Times Square. Presented by VoiceOverXtra, an online news and resource center for the voice over industry, the workshops will offer hands-on experience in booth recording, with personal direction and guidance. New and veteran voice talents will learn how to succeed in voice acting, additionally taking home tips on marketing and business.

Booth Camp workshops will be led by award-winning voice talent Joe Loesch, and will travel to select locations across the U.S. during the year.

“Joe is a phenomenally engaging and prolific voice talent who also coaches, produces and directs voice overs,” said VoiceOverXtra publisher John Florian. “When Joe told me about his concept of helping voice talents across the U.S. with Booth Camp, I couldn't resist sponsoring these events. This is an experience that can change a career direction—and surely give it a boost.”

The 9-to-4 workshops will focus on commercial voice overs, including copy interpretation, voice acting, how the business works, and marketing. Specific topics include:

• How to make the microphone your friend
• How your demo becomes your calling card
• The union, agents and pay-to-play online casting sites
• Your website, demo marketing and networking
• Acting vs. reacting in voice over scripts
• How to take direction and self-direct
• Where to find demo copy
• How to set up a home studio
• Where voice over confidence comes from
• How to take care of your voice
• How to know when you’re ready to record your demo

“Booth Camp is a great workshop for building voice over confidence. There will be plenty of booth time with coaching, and attendees will take home what they record. They’ll receive critiques, get all questions answered—and undoubtedly have a good time,” said Loesch.

Loesch, the voice for many cartoon characters on the Disney channel, is producer of the Baby Looney Tunes sound books and has produced well over 100 audiobooks, including performing dozens of narrations himself. He has voiced countless commercials for big-brand national, regional and local advertisers, and has also appeared in a number of movies and national TV ads. He was raised and trained in Los Angeles, and now works and travels from a home base in Nashville.

While other city locations for the Voice Over Booth Camps have yet to be announced, the February 15 inaugural will be held at Edge Studio, 115 West 45th St., in New York City. Tuition for the full day, including recordings of all work, is $325. Class size will be limited, so early registration is advised.
