Novel, The Thirteenth Day - Lola Seeks Facts. Were 1200 African American Soldiers Massacred In 1943?

Hangings on a military base, assaults, firefights between black & white solders, no arrests and no newspaper reports. Bodies are missing and cover-ups reach the highest levels of government. Author Justinah McFadden's controversial book goes public.

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Jan. 29, 2014 - PRLog -- Author Justinah McFadden is not the first to write a story about the still controversial events and the results of investigations into the alleged killing of 1200 African American Soldiers on American soil in 1943. However, through the pages of The Thirteenth Day many will learn for the first time how at least one family discovered the truth.

Recently interviewed for a CNN article about her life as a motivational speaker and author, McFadden was candid when responding to questions about the reason she wrote her first, and to date, only novel, The Thirteenth Day.

“One night, several years ago, I couldn’t sleep so I turned my TV to the History Channel. It was about three o’clock in the morning when a documentary was aired. The story detailed what was described as a massacre of 1200 black soldiers at a military base in Mississippi. The show ended with lots of questions and loose ends as to what really happened.

I became obsessed about digging into the answers. I spent many days over the next five years in the Library Of Congress, and researching every source I could find for information connected to the massacre. Some of the results of my look into this dark moment in American History were written into the pages of The Thirteenth Day.”

McFadden continued, “Here in the U.S. we’ll soon be observing Black History Month, and it has become one of my passions to make sure people don’t forget what happened. Regardless of the so-called “definitive reports” released by the government, families are still waiting for the truth. And I’ve met so many people that are unaware that this horrible assault on American soldiers even happened, so I’m thankful for the opportunity to get the word out so that maybe someday every one of the families will be able to have the disclosures they deserve.”

My ultimate goal is to have the names of the fallen soldiers placed on the wall in our nation’s capital where all soldiers who have lost their lives serving our country are honored."

About Justinah McFadden
McFadden a motivational speaker is a former New York City police officer author, novelist, and award-winning poet. She has written and published seven books, the eighth book, Lobster Claws, will be presented at a book launch party at Jacksonville’s Strand On The Riverfront on Saturday February 15th.

In her words, “When I was eight years old God placed a vision in my heart to become a writer. There was a spark of hope within me that always allowed me to know that there was a calling for my life. Growing up poor and in impoverished neighborhoods, I would witness what happened to those that lacked hope or direction. I want people to know I'm an overcomer because I overcame adversity, poverty, a trying childhood and domestic violence. It all came together when I found my purpose and began to act on it, and although my books are highly motivational they also act as powerfully effective and easy to follow roadmaps that provide the steps that help you realize your dreams."
